The Psychosocial Counselling for Students (PBS) of the Studierendenwerk Wuppertal (STWWTAL) offers support to all students at the University of Wuppertal (BUW) and the supported locations - the University of Music and Dance (HfMT) and the Church University (KiHo). Here you can get advice and help with social and psychological conflicts.
Studying can be an exciting but also challenging time. Sometimes it's like walking a tightrope - on the one hand there are the exciting moments of learning and discovering new interests, while on the other hand exam stress, excessive demands from studying and relationship problems can come like a storm and jeopardise the balance. Difficulties such as family worries or financial bottlenecks can put an additional strain on everyday life. The good thing is:
You are not alone – In all personal conflict situations, you will receive expert advice and can have a clarifying conversation, for example in the case of Work difficulties, exam nerves, decision-making problems, partnership problems, contact difficulties, self-esteem problems, fears and inhibitions, depressive moods and stressful life events. You decide for yourself whether you would like to take advantage of further counselling.
All counselling sessions are strictly confidential and free of charge. You can book an appointment with our coach for a personal meeting on Tuesday mornings.

HOW DOES THE COUNSELLING WORK?
What you can expect:
Counselling is free of charge, confidential and takes place in a protected environment. You can request appointments flexibly and easily by email.
In order to categorise your concerns and get to know each other, a 30-minute initial consultation will take place. This meeting gives you the opportunity to clarify your expectations of the counselling and for the coach to jointly assess your needs.
Following the initial consultation, you will arrange individual follow-up appointments of 45-60 minutes, depending on your needs, which usually take place on site.
WHO IS PSB FOR?
The programme is open to all students at our supervised institutions.
Come to us and make an appointment if you find yourself in a stressful phase of life or want to prepare yourself for challenging periods of study and life. Our coach will help you to activate your own abilities so that you can overcome difficulties and crisis situations on your own. If our services are not enough, we will be happy to support you in your search for other alternatives.
