House 14: "Odeon"

The Odeon is a small, cosy residents' meeting place that offers regular opportunities to get to know each other and sit together. The residence tutors publicise the opening times on the notice board.

Internet and TV

Each flat has a modern internet connection and IP-TV. The costs are already included in the warm rent. 

In the flats

You can do whatever you like in your flat - as long as you observe the house rules.
The rule of thumb is: ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!’ Respect the property of your flatmates and make sure you take care of the communal facilities (kitchen and bathroom) - it has been shown that flat-sharing communities get on better with a cleaning schedule.
If you notice any damage to the parquet flooring, windows, kitchen, doors or corridors, please inform our caretakers immediately (hausmeister(at)hsw.uni-wuppertal.de) or use our defect report form.
Please note that wooden floors must not be exposed to moisture for long periods - avoid puddles in the kitchen and bathroom areas and close the windows when it rains. You can also obtain special care instructions from our caretakers.

Special feature of houses 14/16: You live in a passive energy house, i.e. you no longer have a radiator in your flat, but fresh, pre-heated air is constantly blown in via valves in the ceiling area and stale air is extracted. You have a better indoor climate if you keep the windows permanently closed, which also saves a considerable amount of energy. The radiator in the bathroom gives you the option of raising the room temperature for a short time for your morning toilet or shower - please switch the radiator off again after using the bathroom.

Washing & Drying

You can use the communal laundry facilities in House 10 (Level 2, outside) or House 16 (Level 1). A wash cycle costs EUR 2, a dry cycle EUR 1.50.
The best and closest opportunity for freshly tapped drinks and attractive cuisine is the university pub in ME04 (Mon-Fri 11am-11pm).

Other

We offer lockable bicycle storage for your bicycles. We also have some lockable parking spaces for motorbikes free of charge. We have set up our own collection point for bulky waste, please speak to our caretakers. Under no circumstances should you leave (bulky) rubbish in corridors or stairwells, as this could pose a danger to life and limb in an emergency. You can play basketball or have a barbecue in the outdoor areas. However, please clean up afterwards and bear in mind that even a small barbecue can pose a fire hazard.
